Writing in a public forum like this is a new and radical adventure for me. I am overwhelmed by the technical vocabulary I have to learn in order to navigate the blogging world. Believe me, it is daunting—so many buttons and options for someone who attended school using a fountain pen. I am most grateful for the help from young folks who grew up navigating cyberspace.
I am retired from the teaching profession where I spent 42 years with middle school students. If you know anything about middle school, your eyes just rolled. Yes, I survived the wacky world of preadolescence, but I must quickly add that I loved it. Kids have taught me so much about what it means to be human.
I’ve also been involved in ministry for nearly 40 years, so I would say that I am bi-vocational. It’s been a journey shared with my husband. Because I’m not tied to a school calendar any longer, I have been traveling more internationally in missions work, which is enormously gratifying.
My writing is about what I notice–in people, in myself, and in God’s Word. Some of it is on the serious side and some on the lighter side. If I get too “preachy,” it’s because of who I am. I can’t help myself and there are no 12 step programs for preachiness. Every now and then, my writing may border on snarky, and I can only attribute that to hanging around teenagers for 42 years. So forgive me in advance. I trust you will find my insights and musings enjoyable and perhaps even thought-provoking. Thanks for stopping by.
